Ten Days For Mom (Day 2 - Struggles)

Motherhood. The word conjures up images of love and affection. Of precious children and laughter and joy. But sometimes there's a stormy side. A side that's hard and heart-wearing and oh so tired.

Your child might be one who is so young and still demanding and needing, or maybe a child with special needs, or different needs, or maybe just a child that needs... well, more. Sometimes it's too much and yet as mothers, we have to keep going. There are things to be done, and we are the ones to do it.

And feeling like you're at the end. Like you don't have it all figured out. Like maybe you just need an hour alone to soak in the tub and listen to Norah Jones and please can I just have an hour by myself...

You're not the only one who feels that silent craziness grabbing at your heart and the back of your head. You're not the only one silently (or maybe not so silently) crying out, "Enough. Please, just enough."

But in the end, when the craze breaks and peace returns, you know it's worth it. These little ones are worth it. And you'll go on because you are Mom.

Today's link and video reflect these feelings.

The video comes from the 2013 Familius Family International Film Festival.
Jenna looks at the complex relationship between a mother and daughter.

And the post for today comes from one of my favorite bloggers, Lisa Jo.
The hard work of liking our kids, not just loving them is a great post about the real, we are only human truth of raising kids. We can love those little rascals so much but gosh sometimes it can be hard to like them.

I hope you enjoy both selections. See you tomorrow!
